Hello fellow toads,
Whew. It’s been a hell of a week and a mess of a month.
First, I wanted to throw a big whopping GET BENT out at anyone who thinks it’s in any way a victory to take away others’ bodily autonomy and fundamental rights. SCOTUS, GET BENT! Evangelical right-wing creeps, GET BENT! Soulless “pro-life” ghouls, GET BENT! You’re not welcome here and ya never will be.
Okay, that’s out of the way for now.
But also, happy Toad Tuesday.
My life kind of erupted on the solstice last week. A surge of energy flooded back into my bod for the first time in a wizard’s age and then everything started happening at once. It was like my brain was simultaneously on fast forward and playing elevator music in a loop.
Long story short, I’m now living totally alone for the first time in like three years. It’s weird. I’ve been trying to figure out what my actual personal tastes look like and get some redecorating done. Right now, I’m going for a Practical Magic-meets-Studio Ghibli plus…uhhhhh…a sprinkle of Pride and Prejudice…and uhhh…the Shire…like…put through a dark academia filter kind of vibe. (Don’t worry, I made a Pinterest board! Pinterest: When Words Fail.)
Cat Chat

I also, of course, immediately started browsing for a cat.
One of the things I’ve always wanted but never been able to have is My Own Cat. A soft little guy who lives in your house, eats fish, and doesn’t like anyone but you? Sign me up for that!
I found a really round, stout looking fellow who I want to get as soon as I have a room ready for him. His name is Elvis and we have already started referring to the spare room as Elvis’ Room. Now I just have to get the decorating done…I’m thinking a Graceland theme with lots of bling.
Crossing all my appendages that the cat plan comes to fruition!
Haircut

I’m also trying to decide what to do to my hair now and I just can’t make a decision (shocker, right?). This time, I’m stuck between a French bob, an ~iconic~ Princess Diana haircut, and a pixie bob. I’m ~also also~ probably adding a fun color or some highlights or something.

I’ve been spending a ton of time with my sister (the titular Addie of Addie Comics) and chatting with my friends (hellooooo, my girls, gays, and theys!), which has rekindled my love for all things femme, 90s movies, Jane Austen and the Brontë sisters, and lady singer-songwriters. In lieu of a Book Nook for this week (though I did just finish Little Fires Everywhere and I did like it), I’m gonna share some of my recent faves in no particular order.

This issue is dedicated to Addie for hanging out at my house and letting me pick the movie several times this week.
